Because of the stark changes in the 2022 regulations, McLaren can place Herta in its MC元5M chassis from last year – or any version older – for a dedicated test session. The McLaren F1 team announced Saturday it had signed the 21-year-old Andretti Autosport Ind圜ar driver via a specific F1 testing and development program that allows teams to run old versions of its car outside of the current technical regulations. With Andretti Global’s Formula 1 future still in the hands of the FIA and series owner Liberty Media, Colton Herta has been granted a chance to make his testing debut in an F1 car with another program familiar to Ind圜ar fans.
